Big News! Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel
Announcing my adaptation of the childhood classic
I’ve had to keep this announcement quiet for almost two years, so here’s my joyous diary comic from back when I first got the news:
The beauty and power of Tuck Everlasting stuck with me ever since I read it as a kid, so I was thrilled when this project came my way!
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt is such a beautiful and profound take on mortality—a theme you don’t often see in children’s books. I’ve been so lucky to work with Farrar, Straus and Giroux (Macmillan), with Wes Adams as my editor, and the amazing creative team at First Second. On top of that, getting to collaborate with Natalie Babbitt’s family and estate has made this a true dream project.
Tuck Everlasting is the story of Winnie Foster, a 10-year old girl, who discovers a spring on her family’s property that will grant whoever drinks from it everlasting life. She meets a family, the Tucks, who accidentally drank from the spring decades earlier, and she must decide whether to keep the spring a secret, or drink from it and join the Tucks forever.
What I love most about Tuck Everlasting is how it approaches death as a natural part of the life cycle—not as something to fear or resist, but as something that gives life its meaning.
Here’s a video I made about the announcement.
The graphic novel will be coming out in Fall of 2025, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Natalie Babbitt’s incredible book. I’ll be posting a lot more about it especially as publication gets closer so stay tuned!
I’m curious if you’re familiar with Tuck Everlasting?
Maybe you read the book, watched the 2002 movie starring Alexis Bledel, the play, or the broadway show? And if so, what feelings or memories do you have of it? Put it in the comments below!

Here’s Leif, still recovering from his leg injury, and curled up with one of his favorite books ;)
I normally send out my newsletter on Sunday, but this is your post for the week instead. I couldn’t wait until then to share my news!
Take care and keep creating!
