How well do you know Tuck Everlasting?
A visual guide will help you discover—or rediscover—Natalie Babbitt’s timeless classic
If you need a refresher, let me tell you a bit more about Tuck Everlasting, which I’ve adapted into a graphic novel as part of the 50th anniversary celebration this September.
Originally written by Newbery Honor nominee Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting is set in the small town of Treegap in 1890. It’s a story about immortality, friendship, and growing up.
At the center of the story is 10-year-old Winnie Foster, who stumbles upon a hidden spring in the woods near her home.
There she meets the kind Tuck family—who reluctantly kidnap her. They take her to their cabin on a lake and reveal their astonishing discovery of the spring’s life-changing power.
Now Winnie must decide what to do with her newfound knowledge—and the Tucks must decide what to do with her.
But it’s not just Winnie who is interested in their remarkable tale. A suspicious stranger, The Man in the Yellow Suit, is also searching for the Tucks, and he will stop at nothing until he finds them and uncovers their secret.
If you’re intrigued, I hope you’ll consider pre-ordering Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel. It makes a wonderful gift for kids—or adults—and the themes are universal. Pre-orders seriously help support the book (and me!) by signaling interest to bookstores and book buyers:
Let me know in the comments: What memories or feelings do you have about Tuck Everlasting (if any)?
SAVE THE DATE: If you’re in the Twin Cities, you’re invited to my book launch at Red Balloon Bookshop on Tuesday, September 2 at 6PM. RSVP here. I’d love to see you there!
You’re invited!
I hosted my first K’s Kettle last month, and it was a big success! This month’s session will be this Tuesday July 15 at 6 PM CT. It’s a relaxed, one-hour Zoom meetup where we make short comics based on our lives, inspired by a simple prompt. No experience necessary.
This month is free to join, but starting in August, K’s Kettle will be for paid subscribers only—so come try it out and see if it’s for you!

In the left photo, Leif is spotting a beaver along the Mississippi which is a good reminder why he’s always on lead.
Take care and keep creating!
