Yes! I'm at my second artist residency this year...actually ever! The two experiences were so different but both have enriched my practice and my life so much, for the reasons you say. If I had known, I might have made time and space for these kinds of experiences a little earlier!
Anna and I are definitely wanting to do a retreat sometime soon. We tried to organize our own last summer but ended up in Amish country so there were too many interesting things to do and see, so we didn't actually do any art! 😅 We'll have to try something more secluded next time.
Good point! I don't know that I could do a retreat somewhere really interesting... I think I'd just want to see everything, as opposed to work, or let my mind think. Although I've seen ones offered in France or Italy which look lovely--just a different kind of retreat perhaps.
Wonderful! I’ve felt the same, maybe a little spendy and luxurious to go somewhere else to work… I love my home studio, but you’re right… Too many distractions sometimes. Need to shake it up! I’m looking forward to my first artist retreat in April 🎨🖌️😉🤩
